Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
What is PRP?
PRP is the name given to a treatment option that is conducted to stimulate healing through an injection of one's own growth factors into damaged area under ultrasound.
What is the Goal of PRP?
The goal of Platelet Rich Plasma Injections is to use the body’s own platelets and stem cells to induce faster healing rates. How this process works is that the physician will withdraw your blood, put the blood into a centrifuge where the platelets are extracted (platelets are now known to release healing proteins known as growth factors) and then inject the solution directly into the injured site using an ultrasound guided technique to ensure proper placement. These proteins then stimulate repair and regeneration at the site, offering the patient pain relief and quicker healing rates.
